Tracy, a resilient woman who found beauty and strength in the face of breast cancer, embodies why restorative beauty is more than just a service—it’s a way to empower survivors to reclaim their identity.
A marketing and design professional in New York, Tracy is also a mother of two young daughters. After being diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer, she began chemotherapy, facing the emotional and physical toll of losing her hair, eyebrows, and eyelashes.
“I have a 2-year-old who doesn’t understand what’s going on, and a 5-year-old who knows something’s different but doesn’t fully grasp it yet. Sometimes, she looks at me and says, ‘I don’t want you to die.’ It rips your heart out.”
While Tracy worked hard to stay strong for her daughters, it was incredibly difficult to maintain her own strength. Balancing the demands of motherhood while battling breast cancer left her feeling overwhelmed. “There are moments where I feel like, is this just my life now?” she confessed.
In preparation for her inevitable hair loss, Tracy’s husband bought some hair clippers and they decided to turn it into a family moment. It could’ve been scary for the girls, but they invited them into the bathroom and shaved her head together turning it into a fun celebration to say goodbye to her hair.
But when a nurse mentioned, almost as an afterthought that her eyebrows and eyelashes would fall out towards the end of her treatment, Tracy was shocked. “I hadn’t even considered that this was also hair.”
Now her morning routine includes using brushes, creams and various products to create the illusion of eyebrows, sparking conversations about beauty standards with her daughters.
“When we ‘decorate’ our faces, we’re doing it for ourselves, so we like what we see in the mirror,” she explained, determined to model strength and self-acceptance for her girls, even as she struggled to hold onto her own sense of self.
Eyebrow Restoration
The loss of eyebrows can seem like a small thing, but the impact is enormous. Semi-permanent microblading helps restore confidence and allows individuals affected by cancer to feel like themselves again.
Tracy described the experience as a luxurious experience of ultimate comfort and indulgence. With a cozy blanket draped over her on the chair, Tracy fell asleep during the treatment.
Her reaction to the results was heartwarming: “It exceeded anything I could have imagined. It’s so beautiful and so natural. It’s my face, but there’s something different about it. It feels really natural, it feels great, and I’m really happy.”
For me, this trust is everything. I’m honored to be part of Tracy’s journey and to help her feel beautiful again. The transformation may seem subtle, but for Tracy, it was life-changing.
